Born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, Cleer represents the next generation of great singer-songwriter-performers—an inspired by the likes of Marvin Gaye, the Jackson 5, Chaka Khan and Stevie Wonder, all personal faves of Cleer.

What makes Cleer so unique is that he is arguably a jack of so many trades; one fully able to express himself. Not only is he a recording artist and an accomplished percussionist, but he is adept in the fields of painting, drawing and sculpting. He, too, has a love for fashion. “I think I’m just one big artistic expression,” he says. “It can go in any direction. I just live for that kind of stuff.”

Cleer’s album is an eclectic mix of up-tempo songs, mid-tempo ballads, and future classic gems—just what adult urban contemporary radio is starving for. Not to be relegated to one format, though, his musical appeal is universal and has the potential for success in various formats.

A number of notable songwriters have come on board to collaborate with Cleer. Among them are Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men, Marc Kinchen, David Cater [sic] and Terrell Carter (known from his work in the Tyler Perry Madea plays). “I love the creative process,” states Cleer. “I love working with other people. I had been so accustomed to performing in front of a live audience, so getting in to the studio and recording was not only a great learning experience but a cool and cathartic one as well.
